So this is us. Rachel and Graham!
Before I get started showing you our Scottish Gifts and bespoke products, here's how it all began............
We moved to rural Aberdeenshire in 2015 and decided we really wanted to work from home. Graham's background is in Laser Engraving, mine is in Admin. So we make quite the team! We both have ideas but it's Graham who makes it happen. I'm more the inspiration side, Graham's the go to guy with the skills needed to get it done. We actually started selling cushions, clocks and all sorts of Scottish gifts at craft stalls and local Highland Games. We were approached by a large store and that's where our story began. We soon realised we could sell our Scottish art direct to other retailers. We had a few lucky breaks and now have some great retailers stocking our products in the north of Scotland.
We are based near Banff on the north Aberdeenshire coast. The area is so beautiful it is quite inspiring. We let our imaginations run wild and love creating new products. We are really proud that our designs are indeed our own. We also love to source eco-friendly products and materials made within Scotland or the UK. We love the fact that our Scottish gifts have already gone all round the world. There's something lovely about knowing there are pictures we made hanging on the walls of homes in Australia, America, Canada, India to name but a few. And our Christmas baubles adorning trees around the world, reminding expats of home or a wonderful memory of their visit to Scotland.
We are always on the lookout for suitable retailers. At the moment we supply Aberdeenshire and across into the Cairngorms and the west coast of Scotland. We are currently searching for gift shops across the rest of Scotland and south into England to stock our products. I'll go into detail about what we can offer in further posts. But you can always check out the website www.thedamside.com
So, this is just the beginning. I hope you will follow our story and our progress. Until the next time!
Best wishes, Rachel
